CB650 PROJECT: WINTER OF 2003-04
This is the preliminary schedule of events for the winter of 2003-04. I will add pictures as I complete the projects on this list. Most of this stuff is a cakewalk compared to the hell I endured last winter with the motor. Being a full time student, working, and trying to make time to work on a bike can be pretty hectic at times. The basic plan is to strip the motor out of the frame, clean up the motor with clear coat, powdercoat the frame and brackets, professionaly paint the tank and covers, and suspension work. I purchased a mobile sandblaster to make my life a bit easier. But alas, now i've also bought a 1973 XL175 from a friend, and it will be simutaneously going through the same frame off restoration, so I have to haul some butt here.
-Complete frame off restoration
- Powdercoat/Paint Frame
- Blast and paint accessories (foot pegs/handle controls/etc)
- Forks polished and clear coated
- Tank purchased, cleaned, and painted gloss black &sidecovers
- Have rims repainted?
- Rebuild front forks with Progressive rate springs
- Possible internal valving
- Fork brace for stability
- Custom steering damper for handling
- Recovered Seat
- Slightly lowered
- Installed gel pad for comfort
- Stepped for back support
- Custom hinges off of '79 model
- Removable back rest for rider
- Windshield - Quick release for easy removal (want one for long highway trips only)

- Fits machines with round headlights
- Handlebar clamps are billet aluminum and fit 1 in. and 7/8 in. bars

- Measures 25 in. W x approximately 17 in. H above headlight
- Looks great on machines with either 5 3/4 in. or 7 in. round headlights
- Handlebar clamps are billet aluminum and fit 1 in. and 7/8 in. bars
- Fork clamps are billet aluminum and adjustable to fit 35mm to 41mm forks
